Our Experience with ChatGPT and Google Bard

In my experience Google’s AI search engine could be very effective with keeping people on Google search vs opening Open AI’s Chat GPT in a separate browser especially for long tail questions. However, I think Google needs to be careful with not effecting local small business searches and favoring one over the other in an answer vs letting people choose from Google ads or the 10 search results that are now scrolling like mobile on desktop as well as the Google Maps section.

Ever since ChatGPT was released Google’s now having to show its hand to years upon years of AI research and tools they have already been testing, researching, and building. Nothing is perfected yet from a ChatGPT standpoint the user experience and interface isn’t that good. And it’s integration into Bing which hardly anyone uses is not that impressive. If Google was to add an AI Chat they should consider just making it a tab in search like “Images”, “News”, “Videos” is now. The last thing they want to do is ruin the user experience with Google’s search engine where people don’t like it or want to use it anymore just because they are in a rush to compete with ChatGPT and other AI Tools.

In my experience when Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri came out a lot of people said that was the end of SEO and people will just ask their phone or Amazon Alexa for everything via Voice Search. However, that flopped. One reason I think that happened is because people don’t want to hear other people asking a device everything they need or thinking and its annoying. However, asking a text based question into and AI chat section of a website or search engine seems a lot better to get a “2nd opinion” of sorts. It still will be hard changing habits of searching and researching checking out multiple sites ect unless the AI chat answers with multiple cited options and sources. Also, the other thing to think about is the liability concerns, copywrite infringements, and a whole lot of other legalities to this new way of asking AI for everything.
